3D Special Effects Rigging and Dynamics Made EasyLightWave's Automation and Dynamics Capabilities are the focus of new DVD Training Release (January 26, 2006)
Technical Direction (DI2109) explores model rigging techniques that enable objects to react automatically to actions and movement within a scene. Expressions, Soft FX and Follower are just a few LightWave tools explored. A Zero fighter model is the subject for demonstrating a variety of techniques for anticipatory animation of control surface flaps, synchronized movement of landing gear, tire dynamics and reactive wheel rotation all with accuracy and controllability.
Dynamics & Detail (DI2110) uses a pre-animated attack sequence to apply dynamics within a scene. Particle explosions, flying debris and snapping cables are animated with the use of Particle Dynamics, HardFX, SoftFX, Metalink, Wind and Collision Effectors. Techniques are demonstrated for applying density and weight to objects that react accurately to friction and gravity attributes for real world dynamic effects.
This release adds to The Visual FX Series which includes "3D Effects Compositing" (DI2107) and "Set Extensions" (DI2108) all together offering over six hours of instruction on Visual Effects production for Film, Television Commercial and Music Video production.
About the instructor
Greg Sullivan has been animating on computers since the debut of the Apple IIe. Former lead animation director for KidzVid Studios where he over saw three full length animated DVDs. Since then Greg has directed animated television commercials, created "performance animation" pieces for live, interactive experiences and contributed to several independent films.
