26,000 still without power after Calif. winds26,000 still without power after last week's California windstorms, and new gusts on way
PASADENA, Calif. (AP) ' Southern California Edison says about 26,000 customers are still without power, nearly a week after the worst windstorm in a decade.
Spokesman David Song says crews are working around the clock to restore electricity to hard-hit areas, such as the foothill communities east of Los Angeles. But he says thousands of trees were downed last Wednesday and many are still blocking roads.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has high wind warnings out for northeasterly winds gusting to 60 mph below mountain passes and in canyons. However, forecaster Eric Boldt says the winds won't be as ferocious as last week.
