24P Adoption on the Rise

Half of post houses will adopt by the end of the year By Dave Nagel
According to a new study released by SCRI, adoption of 24P technologies in post houses is rising fast. The study shows that, as of now, about a third of all post houses in the United States have 24P capabilities. By the end of this year, this is expected to increase to about half of all post houses.

What's more, according to the study, this number will jump to nearly two-thirds by 2003, according to results based on a poll of post facilities. But the actual number could be even higher.

"With 19 percent of post facilities currently unsure as to when they will offer 24P HDTV capability, the actual adoption rate is likely to be somewhat higher," SCRI reported in its findings. The following table shows the results of the poll.

The information is part of a study called the "2001-2006 DTV Migration Report." For more information on the report, visit
