2005 CES To Showcase The Networked Home MarketTechnology tradeshow helps grow home networking and integrating industry (September 30, 2004)
The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) houses the largest annual home networking tradeshow in the world, attracting 28,000 attendees who specialize in home networking and automation. The 2005 International CES runs January 6-9, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nev.
"All segments of the consumer electronics industry have embraced the potential of the networked home, making it a prime market at the International CES," said Karen Chupka, vice president, events and conferences for CEA, the producer of the International CES. "Beyond retailers and integrators, CES also attracts leading architects, broadband service providers, distributors, home builders, manufacturers and software developers, thus encompassing the whole spectrum of the home networking industry."
From basic Internet connectivity and broadband to media servers and residential gateways to security and remote monitoring, CES exhibitors cover the full gamut of the networked home market. Some of the major home networking exhibitors include CorAccess, Crestron, D-Link, GE, HAI, HP, Leviton, Microsoft, Motorola Broadband, Net Gear, OnQ Technologies, Scientific Atlanta, USTEC, X-10 and XtremeSpectrum. Most of the home networking exhibitors are in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), with IT-centered technologies on the upper floor and A/V technologies on the ground floor.
A host of specialized TechZones also addresses specific home networking trends and technologies from the Connected Home Entertainment TechZone and TechHome TechZone in the LVCC South Hall to the DSL Forum TechZone and Ultrawideband TechZone in the Innovations Plus exhibit area of the CES Central Plaza. Attendees also should check out the NextGen05 Demonstration Home, a fully networked display home in the CES South Plaza.
CEA will have its TechHome media demonstration unit in the Grand Lobby of the LVCC. Displaying home networking technology for the kitchen, bedroom, utility room and recreation room, CEA's TechHome demo tours TV stations across the country to showcase the latest home networking products and technology.
With top industry visionaries as keynoters and a plethora of conference programming, CES provides a wealth of home networking education for attendees. Microsoft, Intel, Motorola, HP and TiVo - all leaders in the networked home market - headline the key speeches at the 2005 International CES. Four other conference tracks and programs are dedicated to the networked home market.
The Home Networking track digs into the latest trends and intelligence in broadband, wireless and smart systems within new construction and existing homes, and presents CEA's TechHome Basic Training. The Consumer VoIP Summit produced by Pulver.com looks at the evolvement of broadband.
The Digital Home Conference and Showcase, produced by CONNECTIONS, a Parks Associates and CEA partnership, will examine the evolution of the consumer music experience, portable entertainment devices, digital distribution of media and the management of home networks.
Parks Associates also will host a pre-show workshop, The Digital Home Highway, providing consumer data, insight and analysis on broadband services, multimedia applications and platforms, on-demand content, digital rights management and the connected consumer. The workshop will feature information from Parks Associates' most recent consumer studies and industry reports.
Beyond the exhibits and conference programming, CEA will hold a home networking reception to bring together TechHome Division members during the 2005 International CES. The invitation-only reception runs Thursday, January 6 from 6-8 p.m. in the TechHome TechZone.
