2 small planes collide over Oregon state parkAuthorities say 2 small planes collide over state park in Oregon, 1 crashes into ground
WILSONVILLE, Ore. (AP) ' Authorities say two small planes collided near an Oregon state park, and one of the planes crashed into the ground.
Yamhill County Sheriff's Office spokesman Ken Summers says the second aircraft was able to land safely in Champoeg State Park outside Wilsonville, Ore., and its two passengers escaped serious injury.
The planes collided at about 4 p.m. Tuesday near the Willamette River, about 25 miles south of Portland. The fire that followed the first plane's crash was too hot to approach until about 6 p.m. It was unclear whether anyone survived.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus says the location of the crash indicates the planes were not on a commercial or private charter flight pattern.
