TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) ' Tucson, Ariz., police say two men were shot and three others detained after a confrontation in an arts district about a half-mile north of downtown.
A police spokeswoman, Sgt. Maria Hawke, says the shooting happened in an alley just before 11 a.m. Thursday.
It wasn't yet known if those detained were witnesses or suspects. Police are also looking for a woman who got away.
Hawke says many people heard or saw what happened because it was right before lunch, right before the holidays, close to downtown and the University of Arizona.
The wounded men's conditions are unknown.
At least one person involved had gang affiliations, so the police gang unit is investigating.
Hawke says Sixth Street will be closed between North Stone and North Sixth avenues through the evening.
