1st review complete after deadly Colorado wildfireTeam releasing its findings on controlled burn blamed for igniting deadly Colorado wildfire
DENVER (AP) ' A team of specialists plans is releasing its findings about a prescribed burn blamed for igniting a deadly wildfire in Colorado.
The report will be made public Monday.
The wildfire erupted March 26 when high winds fanned embers from a controlled burn conducted days earlier by the Colorado State Forest Service southwest of Denver. Three people died and hundreds were displaced.
The fire blackened 6 square miles and damaged or destroyed more than two dozen homes.
The State Forest Service has said the prescribed burn started the wildfire.
Gov. John Hickenlooper asked William Bass, supervisor of the Bighorn National Forest in Wyoming, to lead the review of the prescribed burn.
Separate investigations are looking into the precise cause of the wildfire and the deaths.
