11 sentenced in federal contracting bribery scheme

11 federal employees and contractors sentenced for bribery scheme in the contracting process By The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) ' Eleven employees and contractors with the U.S. General Services Administration that manages basic services and buildings for federal agencies have been sentenced in a contracting bribery scheme.

The final defendant, a 25-year GSA veteran named Eric Minor, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for taking $118,000 in kickbacks to award hundreds of contracts over four years to four different contractors. The contracts often were for small amounts ' a couple thousand dollars each ' for jobs that didn't even exist.

Minor's take was the largest of those charged in the investigation made public Monday. The Justice Department disclosed the names of the other 10 defendants, including six federal employees and four contractors who have already been sentenced to terms ranging from probation to prison.
