1000 Solid Edge Licences Going to Shandong Manufacturers(July 23, 2001)
Shandong ranks as one of China’s top three provinces in gross domestic product. Manufacturing companies in Shandong produce coal mining machinery, automobiles, machine tools, computers and peripherals and electro mechanical products. Similar to other provinces in China, only a limited number of companies are using 3-D CAD technology in their product design process.
“In order to improve our capability in new product design, to keep abreast with economic advancement and to increase our competitiveness as a whole, we realize that there is an urgent need for our small to mid-sized manufacturers to move from 2-D to 3-D design,” says Mr. Yuhua Liu, director of the New Technology Spreading Center.
The Shandong Province activity expands Solid Edge success in China. UGS already has sold several thousand seats of Solid Edge to Chinese manufacturers. Also, UGS recently announced the successful deployment of 20,000 Solid Edge licenses across 200 Chinese universities to help educate and train the nation’s design engineers.
