1 person killed, 2 wounded in Lacey, Wash., home

Police say 1 person killed and 2 wounded at a home shooting in Lacey, Wash., after argument By The Associated Press

LACEY, Wash. (AP) ' One person has died following a triple-shooting at a home in Lacey, about 60 mile south of Seattle, and authorities searched for the gunman after reports of a suspect in a dark hoodie jumping over fences and running through backyards in the suburban neighborhood.

Lacey Police Cmdr. Jim Mack said one victim was fatally wounded Monday morning and two were taken to an area hospital. He did not know their conditions.

A SWAT team briefly surrounded a nearby home and detained two people, but Mack said authorities don't believe they were involved in the shooting.

Dozens of police, including canine units, continue the search for the suspect. Mack said it appears to be an isolated attack stemming from an argument inside the home.

One of the victims was shot in the chest, another below the waist and the third in the head, he said.

Eight North Thurston schools were locked down Monday morning: Chambers Prairie, Horizons, Lakes, Mountain View, Woodland, Aspire, Komachin and Timberline.

Mack said the violence was atypical for the community of about 42,000.

"I can't remember the last homicide," he said.
