David Nagel Emagic has released a new surround mixing kit called Audiowerk8 The kit includes the Audiowerk8 PCI sound card and a customized version of Logic AudioLogic Surroundfor professional surround production. The kit supports all current surround formats, according to Emagic. Logic Surround offers a virtually unlimited number of MIDI tracks and 16 stereo audio tracks. Each audio track features a three-band EQ and two effects busses. There are nine real time DSP effects, including reverb, delay, chorus and flanger. Logic Surround offers a surround panning interface integrated into the mixing surface. It also offers total recall mix automation, including that of effects. Internal Quicktime and AVI support allows the synchronization of sound to picture. Logic Surround also supports the use of up to eight simultaneous software instruments, including the EXS24, ES1 and VST 2.0 instruments. The Audiowerk8 is a 7" PCI recording card with two analog inputs and eight discreet analog outputs, plus SP/DIF digital I/O. The Audiowerk8 is equipped with PCI busmastering technology to both reduce the load on the computer's CPU and ensure optimal audio performance. Technical data include:
