Sonic Solutions today introduced version 1.5 of its Macintosh-only high-density audio premastering suite, SonicStudio HD. The announcement was made at the International Broadcasting Convention going on right now in Amsterdam. This new release includes a number of important enhancements, according to Sonic, including the ability to perform signal processing operations in the background while the user continues to edit.
Combined with a powerful 48-bit HDSP processing engine and Sonic Clarity architecture, SonicStudio HD can deliver ultra-high-fidelity for distribution in multiple formats.
SonicStudio HD 1.5 adds multitasking functionality, performing HDSP processing in the background while the user continues editing in the foreground. The new release also adds CD and DDP loadback and CD and DDP verify. Other new features include:
SonicStudio HD features support for multi-channel sampling rates up to 192 KHz and surround sound mixing (up to eight channels of 24-bit, 96 KHz audio or four channels of 24-bit, 192 KHz input and output). SonicStudio HD workstations can be expanded to include Sonic's full line of DVD-Audio authoring options including OneClick DVD and DVD Creator 5.1.
It includes CD preparation tools, such as PQ code editing, ISRC codes, UPC editing and direct CD-R and DDP support. SonicStudio HD also supports both DVD-Audio and Audio for DVD-Video publishing with Sonic OneClick DVD.
There are three configurations available. They require one or two free PCI slots (depending on configuration), a minimum G3 procesor, 256 MB RAM, 20 GB hard disk space (2 GB for the system, 18 GB for content), a monitor supporting at least 1,024 x 768 resolutions with 24-bit color and Mac OS 8.6 or later. Configurations range in price from about $10,000 to about $25,000 with all the options. For more information, visit http://www.sonic.com.
