David Nagel Midiman has started shipping its MIDIsport 8x8/s, a USB MIDI interface for the Mac. The new unit offers eight in and eight out ports, as well as connectors for legacy serial ports. According to Midiman, the MIDIsport 8x8/s features full SMPTE implementation, and multiple units can be used simultaneously. The unit can also act as a standalone, software-controlled MIDI patchbay. The new MIDIsport 8x8/s requires Mac OS 8.6 and above with Opcode's OMS for USB. On serial systems, it requires System 7.5.1 or newer with Opcode's OMS for serial port operation.
