David Nagel Fuji today announced two new digital cameras in its FinePix line. The new FinePix 1300 offers a 1.23 megapixel hardware resolution for $249, making it the lowest-priced digital camera on the market with a resolution that high. The company also introduced the FinePix 2400 Zoom, a 2.1 megapixel model that sells for $499. The low-end 1300 has a 1.3 million sensor CCD that captures images at 36 bits (with 24-bit output). It has a fixed-focus, 36 mm (35 mm equivalent) lens and can operated in macro mode. It also has a 2x digital zoom. It comes with an 8 MB SmartMedia reader and a USB interface. The FinePix 2400 captures images through an aspherical 3x optical zoom lens that has a range equivalent to that of a 39 mm to 117 mm zoom in the 35 mm format. The 2400 includes several external buttons for accessing features, rather than standard menus that are accessed through the LCD screen. Like the 1300, the 2400 ships with an 8 MB SmartMedia card and includes a USB interface. The FinePix 2400 Zoom and FinePix 1300, which will both ship with Adobe PhotoDeluxe7 Home Edition 3.0 software, will be available in September and October, respectively.
