Northern Lights Ships Blaster for ElectricImage
Explosions, collisions on the fly

Northern Lights Productions has started shipping Blaster, a plugin for ElectricImage designed to create explosion effects. It includes a complete dynamics engine built in—with collision detection and response of solid objects.

Features include:

• Dynamics Engine (collision detection and response)
• Up to 32 user-defined shockwaves
• Visible shockwave previews
• User-defined mass, spring and damping properties
• Sticky Camera maps.

According to Northern Lights, a user need only pre-score a model using EI Modeler Boolean or knife tools or form•Z Boolean or trim tools, and the plugin takes care of the rest.

The software can be used to create other effects involving collisions as well, such as objects dropping into a bowl or a line of Dominoes falling. (Examples of these can be seen at Northern Lights' Web site.)
