Agfa Drops Price of 1236u Scanner

Agfa
has lowered the price of its 1236u USB scanner to $179.
The scanner features an optical resolution of 600 x 1,200 PPI, which can be interpolated
to 9600, and 36-bit color depth. The single-pass scanner offers a scanning area
of 8.5" x 11.7" and can accommodate an optional transparency unit. (The
automatic document feeder option is available only for PCs.)
The SnapScan 1236u ships with Agfa's
ScanWise software, which features automatic processing. This feature automatically
finds originals on the scanbed; rotates them if they're misaligned; checks whether
they're text, color or black/white; and then scans them all. Other features include:
- Built-in PhotoGenie intelligence
for enhancing the detail and color balance of originals;
- Integrated Agfa color management;
- Auto-dispatching, which checks for
programs are installed on your computer and then scans directly into them;
- Multi-lingual InterfaceÑDutch, international
English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
The scanner requires a minimum G3
processor, 32 MB RAM, Mac OS System 8.0 and a CD-ROM drive. For more information,
