Pixelan Launches SpiceMaster
Final Cut Pro version to demo next week

by David Nagel

Pixelan Software has launched a new 2D effects package—SpiceMaster. The software is currently only available for Windows, but the company says it will demonstrate a version for Apple Final Cut Pro next week at the NAB show in Las Vegas at the Adobe Partners Pavilion. It's not known now how many Mac applications SpiceMaster will support in the future, but we'll bring you updates as we find them out.

SpiceMaster offers control over custom transitions and effects (built-in or third-party), including position, orientation, softness, range, movement, border, glow, shadow, speed and dynamic edge qualities.

It also offers dynamic matting of content, such as picture-in-picture effects, split-screens, titles and backgrounds. Pricing ranges from $199 to $399, depending on the package purchased. The full, boxed version will be available this spring. A downloadable version for Windows is currently available at Pixelan's Web site. The Final Cut Pro version delivery date is not yet known.
