Media
100 has started including the serial digital interface in MediaPress Pro,
a real-time MPEG encoder for Macintosh from Media 100 subsidiary Wired.
The MediaPress encoder captures and compresses video and audio signals
into fully compatible MPEG 1 and MPEG 2 bitstreams for media network transmissions
and DVD authoring. It supports constant and variable bit rates from 128
Kbps to 15 Mbps, scalable up to full D-1 resolution NTSC or PAL.
MediaPress also encodes audio
in realtime into MPEG and PCM streams.
Included with the MediaPress
hardware is a complete software application for creation of a variety
of MPEG streams, which are fully compatible with Video CD, SuperVideo
CD and DVD authoring systems. MediaPress with SDI interface supports YUV,
AES/EBU and S/PDIF audio. It retails for $5,499.
Media
100 also anounced today that it has invested in Beatnik Inc., an interactive
audio company founded by Thomas Dolby in 1996. The deal will allow Media
100 customers to access content from the Beatnik Production Music destination.
