In other Avid news, the company will include DVD authoring software from Sonic Solutions in future releases of its editing and finishing systems. The technology, AuthorScript, outputs video and audio content directly to the DVD video format. It also has a transparent print to DVD function that automatically formats Avid content for DVD. The two companies say the first implementation will come in Symphony, Media Composer and Avid Xpress systems, with the technology to be added to other systems in the future. AuthorScript includes the same DVD authoring technology found in other DVD authoring tools from Sonic, including DVDIt! and its Macintosh-based DVD Fusion. AuthorScript is a cross-platform technology that runs on both PCs and Macs. On Windows NT or Macintosh, AuthorScript makes it possible for Avid users to directly convert their video timelines into DVD video content that can be written to DVD-R recordable discs and played on standard set-top DVD players or onto CD-Rs for playback on DVD-ROM drives. Pricing and availability had not been set as of press time. For more information, visit http://www.sonicsolutions.com or http://www.avid.com. Post a message on the Creative Mac World Wide User Forum!
