XLR8 Drops Prices on Upgrades
350 MHz G4 $549 to $599

Atlanta-based XLR8 is revamping its line of G4 and G3 accelerator cards with new models and price drops on older ones. The company's also shipping a new four-port USB hub, called IceView, for $54.95. It includes a secondary power supply. The company will continue to sell its unpowered model as well.
On the G3 side, XLR8 has dropped its 300 MHz upgrade card. The 333 MHz model, priced at $389, is now the entry-level model. It includes 1 MB backside cache running at 222 MHz. The MACh Speed G3 400 MHz model, with 1 MB backside cache running at 200 MHz, is priced at $449.
On the G4 side, the XLR8 has reduced prices on several upgrades for older Macs, as well as newer G3s and G4s. The following changes apply to older Mac OS models, including Apple Power Macintosh 7300 to 9600, UMAX J700/S900, Power Computing PowerWave and PowerTower Pro, Daystar Genesis 720 and up and Millennium:
- 350 MHz MACh Carrier G4 1 MB Backside Cache @ 225 MHz now $599 (from $719);
- 400 MHz MACh Carrier G4 1 MB Backside Cache @ 200 MHz now $729 (from $849);
- 450 MHz MACh Carrier G4 1 MB Backside Cache @ 225 MHz now $999 (from $1,099).
The following price changes apply to upgrade cards for Apple G3 and G4 systems:
- 350 MHz MACh Speed G4z 1 MB Backside Cache @ 225 MHz now $549 (from $649);
- 400 MHz MACh Speed G4z 1 MB Backside Cache @ 200 MHz now $679 (from $799);
- 450 MHz MACh Speed G4z 1 MB Backside Cache @ 225 MHz now $949 (from $999).
