Mimic for Poser Expected to Ship in Q2
Mac plugin automates synching of voice and facial movement

LIPSinc, Cary, N.C., says it expects to ship a Macintosh version of Mimic 1.0 by the end of the second quarter. Mimic, currently in beta and expected to ship for Windows April 4, is an application that works with MetaCreations' Poser 3 and 4 (3D modeling software) that automates the synching of sounds with facial movement in Poser.

Users load in a sound file and enter text (to enhance the performance of the synching, if desired), and Mimic does the rest, outputting the corresponding mouth, jaw and lip positions in three dimensions. Output data is converted to morph targets specific to each Poser character, and key frames are generated automatically.

The software is priced at $195. LIPSinc also produces Echo, a synchronization processor, and Ventriloquist, a lip synchronization plugin for animation programs. For more information, visit http://www.lipsinc.com.
