Palo Alto, Calif.-based Hewlett-Packard Co. says it has begun shipping the PhotoSmart C500 digital camera, which it unveiled last August. The camera, which supports captures up to 2 megapixels, can bypass a computer and print directly to a JetSend-enabled printer. H.P. says this is the first time it's used this technology in a digital camera.
The H.P. PhotoSmart C500 also features 3x optical and 2x digital zoom and a 2" LCD. It works with PCs and USB Macs.
The digital camera ships with a 16MB Compact Flash memory card, video cables, TWAIN compatibility and a battery recharger. It ships with three AA NiMH rechargeable batteries. The camera also includes H.P. photo-imaging software.
The camera is available immediately with an estimated street price of $699.
