Electric Rain To Release Swift 3D Mac
Application adds 3D functionality to Flash

Electric Rain Inc. says it wil release a Mac and Windows version of Swift 3D, a 3D vector tool for Macromedia Flash. The Windows version will be released March 27 at the Flashforward 2000 conference in San Francisco, with a Mac version to follow soon after. According to Electric Rain, Swift 3D will allow users to create or import 3D images and animations and export them in the Flash .swf format. However, the companay says the product will not just be a conversion utility; rather, it will be a 3D creation, editing and animation application. Images can be generated using fonts or basic primitives from within Swift 3D or imported from any application capable of saving files in EPS format.

Swift 3D will allow extensive control over the extrusion, rotation, coloring and animation of 3D images, according to the company. Pre-built drag and drop animations and keyframe animation enable users to apply motion to new or imported images. These images are then converted into a vector format and exported as .swf files. Swift 3D will support four levels of export—outlines, meshes, flat shading and gradient shading.
