Canon Ships New ColorPASS System

print controller includes automatic TCP/IP configuration

USA Inc., Lake Success, N.Y., has started shipping the new ColorPASS-Z90
print controller for the CLC 2400 and CLC 1000 color copiers and printers.
The controller was developed for Canon by EFI and includes a dual Pentium
III 500 MHz system with 18.2 GB of hard disk space, 512 MB SDRAM, CD-ROM
and Zip drive. The ColorPASS-Z90 features NetWise 2.0, which performs
automatic TCP/IP configuration, IPX Auto Frame Type and other features;
Fiery Driver for real-time, two-way communication to a suite of printer
drivers; and Fiery Link software for remote printer management capabilities.
Also available as an option is the Advanced Controller Interface Kit,
which includes a flat-panel monitor, keyboard and mouse. Other features
include:
- ColorWise 2.0 color
management system for downloading of ICC and custom profiles and simulations
to match the calibration of monitors, scanners and other output devices;
- ECT file compression
technology, which compresses large files without the loss of any data,
for faster RIP performance;
- A single-user license
of DocBuilder Pro imposition software, which allows a user to edit and
assemble documents on the unit prior to sending them for processing.
The ColorPASS-Z90
is available with a suggested retail price of $43,720. Optional three-user
licenses of DocBuilder Pro are available at a suggested retail price of
$7,950, with seven-user licenses available at a suggested retail price
of $16,500. The Advanced Controller Interface Kit has a suggested retail
price of $2,995. The Canon CLC 2400 and CLC 1000 offer 24 PPM and 31 PPM
printing respectively. The CLC 2400 has a base suggested retail price
of $54,950, and the CLC 1000 has a base suggested retail price of $80,900.
