Coda Music technology today
released Allegro 2000, a mid-range notation package. The software draws
heavily on the company's high-end Finale 2000 music publishing system
and entry-level PrintMusic! 2000 notation software. The company says most
of Finale's MIDI features are included in Allegro, including recording
of MIDI data; a MIDI Graphic Editing window for tweaking performance aspects;
a transcription engine for turning Standard MIDI Files into notation;
and HyperScribe, a real-time note entry system where notes are entered
by playing a MIDI keyboard while the user controls the tempo. Other features
include:
- A new Set-Up Wizard
that lets users select their instruments or voices and instantly sets
up the score so that staff names, transpositions, clefs and playback
sounds are all automatic;
- Several templates
are included, such as Lead Sheet, Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Band and SATB
with piano;
- Imports scanned
sheet music files from MidiScan;
- QuickStart video
tips and instant help messages teach the basics of Allegro 200;
- Music is now spaced
automatically as it is entered.
