FEBRUARY 19, 2004 Synthetik Studio Artist 3.0
Those are just some of the parameters for the appearance of your brush tip. Then there are the more uncommon parameters that you can apply to affect not the look of the brush tip, but the way the brush behaves as it's applied over the course of a stroke. Maybe your graphics program has some sort of brush jitter or scattering capabilities. Studio Artist has that too. But it also has modifiable parameters for doing much more with the stroke, everything from branching out in spokes or trails that follow the luminosity of your image to path curvature to angle modification (not just of the brush tip, but of the stroke itself), inhibitors for avoiding drawing on certain areas of your canvas (think of the crayon resist technique as one practical application) and 29 different path randomization methods, with dual randomization capabilities and modifiers for each type. Again, here's one brush, a single stroke, showing a few of the options available for affecting the brush over the course of a path. [an error occurred while processing this directive]And beyond all this there's even more. There are options for evolving brushes into one another. There are background texture parameters. There are vector output settings. There are even parameters for creating self-animating brushes called Time Particles. These can be set to drip down over an image, revealing another image beneath it as it goes. They can be used to create abstract animations, where the brushes fly apart and re-coalesce over time. So many possibilities. And, just in case I haven't been clear about how many options are available for creating brushes in Studio Artist, here's a miniaturized look at all of the palettes. (Keep in mind that many options are buried in sub-palettes as well.) ![]() Deep enough for you?
