Weekly Download: Studio Artist Paint Patches, Series 10
15 erasers for Studio Artist 3.0
by David Nagel
Download, installation and usage Synthetik Studio Artist 3.0 is a Macintosh-only program. It runs in Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X. After you download the "NagelSeries10-Erasers.sit" file, decompress it using Stuffit Expander. If you don't already have Stuffit Expander, you can download it free from http://www.aladdinsys.com/downloads/index.html.Download: Nagel Series 10-Erasers (88 KB)[an error occurred while processing this directive]The unstuffed folder will be called "NagelSeries10-Erasers." Place this folder in your Presets folder inside your Studio Artist 3.0 folder. You can place them inside the Defaults folder or float them in the general Presets folder.

Either way, they will appear in the appropriate subdirectory in the Presets panel within Studio Artist after you quit and relaunch the program.
Now, as for using these puppies, I assume that most of you will be most interested in the "Erase to Transparent" brush. This being the case, make sure you set your background color on your canvas to Black, and everything will work perfectly. The otrher erasers should be fairly self-expanatory. The Black erasers erase to black. The White erasers erase to white. For the COlor erasers, you need to select your erase color manually, either by choosing it from your color palette or sampling the color from your canvas. (To sample a color from the canvas, hold down the C key and click on your canvas.) The Source erasers erase your canvas back to the source image--whichever image you currently have loaded as your source.
If you like these erasers better than the factory eraser, you can set one of them as your default Wacom pen eraser. To do this, expand the little Patch Edit Memories section below your presets.

See the little "E" button there? That's for your default eraser. To change it, select the eraser you want to use, and then Option-click that button. Now whenever you turn you pen around and draw with the eraser tip, the brush you've selected will be used.
Alternately, if you like more than one of the included erasers, you can save them in the Favorites bank in the presets section. Select the bank you want to use.

Then choose an eraser (or any other kind of brush), and Option-click on any of the squares in the bank. Select a different eraser, and Option-click on a different square. This way, you can have whichever erasers handy that you want to have handy whenever you need them without scrolling through your presets to find them.
