Weekly Download: Photoshop Brushes, Series 15
It's been a little more than two months since our last installment of brushes for Photoshop, so I thought it was about time to rectify that. Our free collection this week includes 15 medium- to large-scale brushes for Photoshop designed to create textured effects for backgrounds, ranging from canvas-like materials to rough stone. They can also be used to produce distress or texture effects over images.
The advantage of using brushes for textures or distress effects over patterns is not only that the brushes allow you to apply the effects to specific areas of your image, but that they also give you other advantages in the area of creative control. You can apply them lightly using a Wacom tablet for subtle effects; you can adjust the spacing to scatter your effects; and you can brush over the same areas multiple times with color variations to give your image more depth than you could otherwise achieve with a straight pattern.[an error occurred while processing this directive]Our collection this week includes 15 brushes, all using different tips for creating a wide variety of textures. These include generic rough textures, canvas-like surfaces, stone and concrete and more abstract textures. All use similar Paint Engine parameters, though these can be adjusted easily by the user to achieve even greater degrees of variation. Here are some samples from the Nagel Series 15 brush collection.
These brushes will run on Macintosh and Windows systems and are compatible with Adobe Photoshop CS. They will not work with Photoshop 7. Continue on to the next page for download and installation instructions. (And remember, you can find all of our previous downloads by visiting our Features archive.)
