Download and installation
This week's brush collection is compressed using Stuffit from Aladdin Systems. The Stuffit Expander is a free utility for Macintosh, Linux, Windows and Solaris that can be downloaded here. Chances are you already have it on your system. If not, download and install it. You can also configure your browser to decompress files of the ".sit" type automatically using Expander.

Download: Nagel Series 14a Brushes for Photoshop 7 or CS (includes variations on original brush set) (1 MB)[an error occurred while processing this directive]Once you download the brush file (NagelSeries14.sit), double-click the file to decompress it, or drag it over the Stuffit Expander application icon. After the file is decompressed (NagelSeries14.abr), move it into the Brushes directory in your Photoshop folder (/Adobe Photoshop CS/Presets/Brushes).

Then launch Photoshop. Open your Brushes palette, and click on the flyaway menu at the top right. There you'll find the new brush collection, which you can install simply by selecting it. After you select it, the new brushes will appear at the bottom of the list of available brushes.

Note on usage: Each of these brushes has a different behavior and will produce varying effects based on how you apply the brush. The cloud brushes are fairly straightforward, scattering themselves on the canvas as you draw. The lightning brushes should be applied using the Color Dodge mode. The moons should be applied using a white or light gray color and should be applied with one quick stroke, with the direction of the stroke setting the object's orientation. Clouds can also be applied using Color Dodge to simulate lighting effects. The light streak effects should be applied diagonally and inherit the initial direction of your stroke. (All of these dynamics, of course, can be changed manually in the Brushes palette.)
