Bending 3D Stroke in Adobe After Effects

While this may not be of much use for text, it is very handy with freeform mask shapes. Take a look at the next figure. In it we have a simple mask shape.

As the Bend value increases, the wrapping increases resulting in a very tight, yet very complex shape.

A Bend value of 4


A Bend value of 10


The Bend Axis allows you to change the axis the bend occurs around. Look at the following animation. In it the Bend value for the shape is set to 4, and the Bend Axis animates from 0 to 180 degrees before repeating.



With the understanding of the Bend value and the Bend Axis, you should start to understand how to create a shape that bend to your will.
