But the greatest feature of Revolve (as well as Extrude & Bevel)--the one that really sets it above the 3D features in Freehand MX--is its ability to map artwork onto the surface of the 3D object. I can apply any piece of artwork I choose in any format supported by Illustrator, provided that I have first placed the artwork into my Symbols library. So, for example, I can take one of NASA's planetary texture maps (http://maps.jpl.nasa.gov);

And tweak the lighting--turning off ambient lighting and highlights--to come up with something approximating the kind of look I might get out of a 3D program.
