Weekly Download: Photoshop Brushes, Series 13
20 crayon and chalk brushes
by David Nagel

It's been seven weeks since our last set of brushes for Adobe Photoshop, if you can believe it. I thought I'd rectify this now in our fiftieth--yes, fiftieth--free weekly download. This time around, we go back to the basics (the very basics) with a collection of brushes designed to emulate children's crayons, as well as variations on chalk, some similar to the kind you'd use on a chalkboard, others more pastel-like.

This week's collection is our thirteenth series of brushes for Photoshop. I'm happy to say that, after testing, they are compatible with the upcoming version of Photoshop CS, in addition to Photoshop 7, as are all of our previous collections. The set this week includes nine crayon brushes, including thing and light to thick and heavy brushes, with clumping to emulate the appearance of crayon on rough construction paper. It also includes 11 chalk brushes that vary widely in appearance and dynamics.[an error occurred while processing this directive]Here's a look at the crayon brushes using a simple handwriting technique.

And here's a look at the chalk brushes.

These brushes will run on Macintosh and Windows systems and are compatible with Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and up. Continue on to the next page for download and installation instructions. (And remember, you can find all of our previous downloads by visiting our Features archive.)
