Step 5: Change the Aerial layer into a 3D layer by turning on the Make 3D Layer icon in the Timeline. ![]() ![]() Step 7: Press the P key on the keyboard to open the Position property for the layer. Leave the X-axis at 360, but change the Y-axis to 86 and the Z-axis to 4500. This will give you a little more look space to view the plane off in the distance (see figure 18.2). ![]() As it is right now, the Aerial layer doesn’t look like it is expanding off into infinity. In fact, because you can see the edges of the layer, the composition looks like you have made a mistake. Let’s fix that. Step 8: Press the S key on the keyboard to open the Scale property for the layer. Unlink the axes, by clicking on the link icon. ![]() Step 9: Change the Scale for the X-axis to 1000. Really stretch the Y-axis by changing the scale to 2000. When complete, you have a layer that reaches far enough to infinity to make this a workable layer.
With the bottom plane in position, it is now time to funk it up by changing the colors, keying out some the information and changing the contrast.
