Magnify
The next Distortion tool is Magnify. I know you remember the old Motion Math script. Oy. Then there was the java expression--and we all thought about how crazy that motion math was. Well, now there's Magnify.[an error occurred while processing this directive]Magnify is a pretty simple effect: It magnifies the pixels under a square or circular shape. Sorry, no mask option, but you can bet it's coming. Until then, stay tuned for the workaround.

Like many other effects, one nice feature of Magnify is that it has its own centerpoint, which can be animated. Not only can it be animated, it can be linked by an expression to other data. Now you can track your magnified subject all over the source.

Additionally, although not unique to Magnify, Adobe has incorporated Blending Modes (AKA Transfer Modes) into the effect. (After Effects 6 now allows you to use separate transfer modes between effects.)

Turbulent Distortion
Turbulent Distortion is an odd distortion method. I'm sure there will be several uses for organic effects, but because of its fractal nature, it is a little bit difficult to control, but very cool.
