Up and Atom!
3D atoms in After Effects

With the electron layer set, it is now time to animate the layer so it flies around the nucleus. The key is to change both of the layers into 3D layers. This is done by turning on 3D layer for each of the layers in the Timeline.

[an error occurred while processing this directive]With the Electron 1 layer selected press the R key to bring up the Rotation property for the layer. Change the X and Y-axis rotation to 60 degrees. Create a keyframe for the Z-axis rotation, but leave the value at 0.

Move to frame 15 and change the Z-axis rotation to –1 x 0 degrees. This will cause the electron to rotate one full revolution over the frames.

Now, you could have moved to the end of the Timeline and changed the number of rotations to match the number of revolutions you desire, but I have a different suggestion.
