Customizing iDVD 3, Part 2
Creating additional button presets for your repertoire

But first, we need to create our new buttons. I'm not going to rehash this part of the customization process. I gave a detailed explanation of this in the last tutorial, and the process for creating new buttons, as opposed to replacing old buttons, is identical. Well, almost. The big difference is that, in the end, you will rename all of the graphics files you've created. Here's a quick rundown.

1. Start with the files associated with the Formal button (seen below). Copy these into a new folder on your hard drive. (You can copy files automatically by dragging them to a new location while holding down the Option key.)[an error occurred while processing this directive]

2. Open them up in an image editor, and change them to your heart's content. When you're done, save them. Take the files called "Formal.Shape.tif," "Formal.Mask.tif" and "Formal.Highlight.tif" and copy them into the "Material" folder within the "Formal.Media.pox" folder. Delete the old files that were there, and rename your new ones as follows:

  • Rename Formal.Shape.tif to "9E20DD8E-0F0D-11D7-B18B-0003939BA86A" (with no quotes).
  • Rename Formal.Mask.tif to "9E2075F0-0F0D-11D7-B18B-0003939BA86A" (no quotes).
  • Rename Formal.Highlight.tif to "9E202C56-0F0D-11D7-B18B-0003939BA86A" (no quotes).

3. Finally, replace the word "Formal" in all of your files with a new name. It doesn't matter what it is. I'll call mine "Dave1."

And don't forget to include the Formal.Media.pox folder in this renaming process. (But you can leave everything inside this folder alone at this point.)
