Disappointments
As you can probably tell, I'm a big fan of Mask Pro 3. But this doesn't mean the software's perfect. It's darn near so though. I'd say that the one glaring flaw of this plugin is its lack of pressure sensitivity. It would seem natural with a utility like this to be able to adjust brush size or softness dynamically, and I can't understand why this functionality isn't there.[an error occurred while processing this directive]That's really about it for disappointments. Any other problems with this software are so minor that they're not even worth discussing.

The bottom line
Mask Pro 3 is simply an amazing piece of software. It's effective, feature-rich and faster than you ought to be able to hope for. It's intuitive, clean and packed with workflow features that clearly demonstrate the understanding Extensis has for the way professional designers work. It does what it's supposed to do, and it does it in a way that stands out above any other masking software I've used. And for all of the features and power of this software, the price is entirely within reason for both the upgrade and the full version. I give Mask Pro 3 an unreserved Strong Buy recommendation.

Mask Pro 3 is available now for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X for $199.95 for the full version, $99.95 for the upgrade from previous versions. It requires Adobe Photoshop 6.01 or 7.0.1 or Photoshop Elements 2.0. A Windows release is planned for later this year. For more information, visit http://www.extensis.com.
