FEBRUARY 07, 2003 Weekly Download: Photoshop Brushes, Series 4 The Paint Engine in Adobe Photoshop 7 affords a seemingly endless set of options for generating new and unusual paint brushes. This week's download includes a number of these, ranging from soft, textured brushes to "Spirographic" effects that can follow the motion of your stroke or even be used to stroke a path. And, as usual, they're all free. Today's collection--Nagel Series 4 Brushes--includes 35 assorted brush styles. These range from the aforementioned Spirographic brushes to simple, soft brushes to textured shapes. All of them use various dynamics in the Photoshop 7 Paint Engine to achieve their effects--scattering, directionality, pressure support for opacity, etc.--and any can be modified by you to vary the effects even more.[an error occurred while processing this directive]Here's a limited sampling of this week's offerings. ![]() NS4B-34, a spirographic brush. ![]() NS4B-29, another spirographic brush that uses preset shapes. ![]() NS4B-20, a soft brush with some underlying texture. ![]() NS4B-11, a hard-textured brush with a scale-like appearance. ![]() NS4B-9, another textured brush, but with a softer edge. All of the above images were generated using the default settings in the brushes in our collection, though multiple strokes and sometimes varied blending modes were also used.
