The Pen Mode parameter

One final note about Region Draw. If you're using a pressure-sensitive tablet, the length and position of your stroke determine the length and direction of the region you're creating, respectively. The amount of pressure you apply determines the width of the region. However, if you simply let go of your pen when you finish selecting the region to be filled, the width will suddenly shrink. To avoid this, apply the desired pressure, and then press the Spacebar on your keyboard. This will commit the region to the dimensions you've defined at the time you press the key.

And a final note on the Pen Mode parameter. Up at the top of the Pen Mode palette, you'll see four buttons. These store your settings for easy recall later. You can store up to four different sets of options that can be applied to any brush. To store your settings, hold down the Option key, and click on one of the buttons. Change your options around, and Option-click on a different button. Now each time you click on one of those buttons later, your stored options will be recalled.[an error occurred while processing this directive]

Next time around, we'll go further into Modes with a look at the Multipen Mode parameter. We'll also be updating our our incremental Quick Reference Guide for Studio Artist to include the information detailed in this and subsequent tutorials.
