Install Film Gimp
Now we're going to install MacFilmGimp, the most painful part of this process, but far less painful than it was the first time I tried it when nobody thoughtful had written a script for this.[an error occurred while processing this directive]To install Film Gimp, locate the file on your hard drive called MacFilmGimp-0.13-1.dmg. Double-click this file to mount it on your Desktop. Inside this now-mounted volume, you'll see an application called MacFilmGimp, looking all friendly with its bevelled-blue Apple icon.

You're going to move this application to your Applications folder on your hard drive and then double-click it to begin the installation process. DO NOT launch this application from the disk image!

At first, you may or may not be asked to locate XDarwin on your hard drive. A dialog should open up offering you a list of available applications, with XDarwin appearing in alphabetical order at or near the bottom of the list. Double-click it. If it does not appear, click the Browse button. XDarwin will be located right in your Applications folder. If it isn't, it didn't get installed properly, and you should re-download those installer and start again. (For some reason, some files downloaded from Sourceforge don't always come through properly in some browsers.)

Once this is selected, MacFilmGimp will begin the automatic installation process. (If it doesn't, click the appropriate button, as seen below.)

And here's where you'll probably get scared. In total, this installation process will take something like 1.5 hours. There will be times when you see errors appearing in the Terminal window and other times when the installer will seem to freeze. But hang in there this will get done.

Unfortunately, you can't go and take a lunch at this point while the files install themselves. Why? Well, at one point, about halfway through the installation, you'll need to intervene and type a "y" for "yes" and then hit the Return key. This has to do with setting permissions and isn't something you really need to worry about, unless you're engaged in government or other unsavory activities and are highly sensitive to security issues. Just do it, and stop your whimpering!

After this, the installer will take another 45 minutes or so to complete the installation.
