Raise Your Burn Rate
The fast way to duplicate your DVDs

You are almost there. However, you should be aware that the DVD media you use will influence how long it takes to burn a copy of your work. If you have a 1x disc, it will only write at 1x speed. For a 30-minute program, that is roughly equal to 24 minutes of burn time. While it is much better than burning in DVD Studio Pro, and way better than trying to make copies in iDVD, you can still do better. The Apple DVD-R discs allow you to encode at 2x speed, which knocks the duplication time down to 12 minutes. Not too shabby. In fact, it is pretty darn good.

Since you only have 12 minutes before the next disc is ready to go, you have time to unwrap all of the DVDs you have to burn. Why do they still wrap bulk DVDs individually? [an error occurred while processing this directive] Anyway, when the DVD is finished, Toast will give the option of Verifying or Ejecting your disk. If you have the time, go ahead and do the verification process. While it does take quite a while to complete, the process ensures your data is okay. If you have a client that needs those copies right away, hit eject.

For the next copy, simply press the Record button, pop another DVD in the drive, and as Jackie Gleason used to say, "Away we go."

I ended up using two G4s, and was able to burn 40 copies of my 30-minute program in a little over four hours (I had some of those 1x discs -- darn wholesalers).
