Pretec Intros 3 GB CompactFlash Card
1.5 GB model demonstrated this week

by David Nagel

Pretec Electronics, a manufacturer of flash media, today announced CompactFlash media ranging in capacity from 1.5 GB to 3 GB. Pretec says the 3 GB model will be available by the end of the year in sample quantities. There's no word on when they will be available for consumers.

CompactFlash media, of course, is used in a number of digital imaging and audio devices, including cameras, printers and MP3 players. The highest capacity card currently available is 1 GB. Pretec says it's showing off its 1.5 GB model this week, which is also available now in sample quantities. The 3 GB model will be available in sample quantities by the end of the year for $2,499. It's unknown what the cost to end users would be. [an error occurred while processing this directive] For more information visit http://www.pretec.com.
