OCTOBER 02, 2002 Warp Effects in Synthetik Studio Artist
Using PASeq to keyframe a warp Now, the process for setting up these warps for animation is fairly straightforward. Begin by switching from Preset mode to Timeline Animation mode. Here you'll select the total number of frames for your animation. If you've opened a QuickTime movie as a source file, the number of frames will be set automatically. Just to keep things short for this example, I'm going to set my total frames to 30. [an error occurred while processing this directive]
Now open up your Paint Action Sequence window (Action > Paint Action Sequence Window). Click the Erase button. Then click the Record button.
Up above you're canvas, you'll see a little arrow pointing toward a pull-down menu. Set this menu to "Source Image." If it's already set to Source Image, click the little arrow so that the "set Background" action is added to the PASeq window.
Now switch from Timeline Animation mode to Warp mode. Choose your Warp from the list of available warps.
For this example, I'll be using "Region Modulate Trans." Because this is one of the region-style warps, I need to create a PASeq step that includes region selection. (If you're using any of the warps that don't include the word "Region" in their name, you can skip this step.) So I'll choose Canvas > Set Current Region Selection to > Canvas Image. This creates a region based on the luminance values of the canvas image.
