OCTOBER 04, 2002 Weekly Download: Custom Brushes for Photoshop 7 This week we kick off a new Friday feature here at DMN: free downloads. Call it gratitude for your readership. Call it a blatant bribe to help us generate more page views. Heck, call it whatever you want. It's free! But you have to get to the end of the article to download it....
Each week, staff members at DMN--most likely me--will provide some free software for creative professionals to download. This week we kick it off with some custom brushes for Adobe Photoshop 7. These brushes--Nagel Series 1 Brushes, as I have narcissistically titled them--include 20 large-format, highly detailed brushes that attempt, within the confines of Photoshop's paint engine, to replicate the behavior of common media applicators, including cloth, rags, rollers and sponges. [an error occurred while processing this directive] The Sponges include four variations on rectangular kitchen sponges.
The Cloth "brushes" include eight variations on cloth, really designed for work on large canvases, though the brushes can be scaled down for smaller projects.
The Rollers include four varieties of textured and smooth rollers that follow the direction of your stroke to emulate a paint roller.
And the Rags (four of them) simulate not the shape of a rag, but the texture, which is somewhat akin to a porous dish rag.
