Corel Offers Discount on KPT for Photoshop 7.0
Photoshop 7 buyers get $100 off

by David Nagel

Lifelong rivals Adobe and Corel have gotten together on a promotion for Corel's Procreate KPT Effects and Adobe's Photoshop 7.0. Bundled with Photoshop 7.0, which just started shipping today, is a trial version of KPT Effects, which can be upgraded to the full version at a reduced price.

KPT Effects is a set of nine plugins for Adobe Photoshop and compatible hosts. The current version, according to Corel, is "fully optimized" for Mac OS X and works in Mac OS 9 and Windows operating systems as well. Specific filters in the set include:

  • KPT Channel Surfing, which does sharpen and blur effects;
  • KPT Fluid, which creates liquid distortions;
  • KPT FraxFlame II for creating fractal flames;
  • KPT Gradient Lab for complex gradients;
  • KPT Hyper Tiling;
  • KPT Ink Dropper
  • KPT Lightning
  • KPT Pyramid Paint for generating painterly effects on images;
  • KPT Scatter, which is a 2D particle distribution engine.

The trial version will expire 30 days after its first use. But Photoshop 7.0 users who want to keep the software can upgrade for $99, which is $100 off the regular price. Others can purchase the software for $199.99 through the Procreate online store.
