Then select Pattern Maker from the Filter menu. This will call up a dialog box, providing you with several options for making the pattern, including the sample detail, smoothness and tile size. By default, the tile size, smoothness and sample detail are set low for speed, but the default settings will yield poor results. Tweaking the settings for higher sample detail, smoothness and tile size will yield better tiles.

[an error occurred while processing this directive] Even at optimal settings, you will sometimes get hard edges on your tiles. But, of course, the software is still in beta, so this could change by the final release.

The last new major enhancement to Photoshop's creative tools is the "Liquify" command, which has been moved to the Filter menu along with the Pattern maker. The "Liquify" filter gains several precision enhancements, including zooming, panning and multiple undo capabilities.



It also allows you to save meshes, which means that you can work with low-resolution files and then apply the mesh from the low-resolution image to a higher-resolution image, saving time on machines with slower processing capabilities. Finally, it also adds a Turbulence brush, enabling you to mix pixels in the image.
