The Color Gradient filter lets you pick any color, replacing several glass filters.
55MM simulates popular optical glass filters as well as specialized lenses. Color Grad, Mist, Fog, Warm/Cool, Skin Smoother, Night Vision and Infra-Red are a few of the 13 filters included. They all share common controls, such as a legal color limiter for broadcast, besides the unique controls required by each effect. Let’s take a look at each one of them.

Tint: Tints the entire image with a selected color in either HSV or HLS mode. HLS
mode retains highlights. The effect is pretty much like adding a colored filter or gel in front of a lens.

Color Grad: Tints only a portion of the image with a selected color in either HSV or HLS mode. It creates a graduated transition for a smooth color blend
between the tinted color and the original image and it works extremely well for adding drama to a scene. You can use it to change the color of the sky from a dull gray, for instance, to a nice blue. You can also use it for special effects such as adding a red sky to a science fiction movie. If you apply the effect a little bit more subtly you can add warmth or give a sense of cold to a shot by applying a red or blue gradient respectively.

ND Grad: The ND (Neutral Density) Grad darkens only a portion of the image using a graduated transition between the darkened portion and the original image. It selectively adjust brightness without affecting color balance and the height and amount of the gradient can be easily adjusted, unlike typical glass filters. The most likely use for the ND Grad would be to balance the difference between the sky and the ground, with the advantage that you can adjust the height of the gradient, unlike traditional glass filters.
