Sonic Updates Audio Premastering Suite
SonicStudio HD gains performance boosts, new audio format support
Sonic Solutions has released a new version of SonicStudio HD, the company's Macintosh-only high-density audio premastering suite. According to Sonic, version 1.7 adds significant performance increases, new editing tools, expanded storage support and enhanced capabilities for new audio formats.
SonicStudio HD features support for multi-channel sampling rates up to 192 KHz and surround sound mixing (up to eight channels of 24-bit, 96 KHz audio or four channels of 24-bit, 192 KHz input and output). SonicStudio HD workstations can be expanded to include Sonic's full line of DVD-Audio authoring options including, OneClick DVD and DVD Creator 5.1.
It includes CD preparation tools, such as PQ code editing, ISRC codes, UPC editing and direct CD-R and DDP support. SonicStudio HD also supports both DVD-Audio and Audio for DVD-Video publishing with Sonic OneClick DVD.
The latest release adds the following features:
- Dedicated In/Out points and Playhead fields;
- Lettered edit group identifiers (sync groups);
- Capture playhead time;
- Start mark auto-numbering;
- EDL zoom lock;
- Dedicated A, B, C Edit/Fade mode nudge;
- HDSRC support for 176.4/192kHz High-Density Audio;
- Compatibility with the new Rorke Galaxy i and Medea AudioRack LP high-capacity storage systems.
SonicStudio HD is available in several configurations. Each requires one or two free PCI slots (depending on configuration), a minimum G3 processor, 256 MB RAM, 20 GB hard disk space (2 GB for the system, 18 GB for content), a monitor supporting at least 1,024 x 768 resolutions with 24-bit color and Mac OS 8.6 or later.
