LightWorks Renderer Comes to OS X
Carbon apps now incorporating OS X renderer

LightWork Design has announced that LightWorks for Mac OS X. LightWorks is a rendering engine currently incorporated in some 80 software applications, including Mac Classic and non-Mac packages. These include Form•Z, VectorWorks, Vellum, Architrion, SolidThinking, CDRS, Unigraphics, SolidWorks, ThinkReal and PowerShape. The release of an OS X version of LightWorks opens the way for other software developers to bring products that incorporate this rendering engine to the Mac platform.
The company says that, aside from the port, the new OS X release offers improved overall performance, greater speed and better stability.
"The Mac is an important platform for our customers and it is essential that we support their next generation operating system," said Dr. Gordon Oliver, LightWork Design CEO, in a prepared statement. The company says that support of LightWorks on Mac OS X is a major part of LightWork Design's "commitment to providing its customers with cross-platform toolkit solutions to their end-users' needs."
LightWorks is currently being incorporated into a Carbon version of Form•Z from Auto•des•sys. A release date has not yet been set. It will also be incorporated into a forthcoming Carbon release of VectorWorks from Nemetschek North America.
