Waves
Ltd., a developer of audio software and hardware, today released Renaissance
Vox for the Macintosh and Macintosh-based TDM systems. Renaissance Vox
is a "one-knob" compressor limiter that also includes a noise gate.
Renaissance Vox is optimized for vocal tracks, featuring a very simple
interface with only two controls and two meters. The display controls
a newly designed compressor, gate and precision limiter with automatic
gain staging for clip-free maximization of vocals. The Energy control
adjusts the threshold of the multi-stage downward expander, and the Compression
control adjusts the amount of compression and limiting while automatically
providing output gain boost.
Renaissance Vox is available as a Digidesign TDM (Mac only) product or
as a native Mac package, with a Windows version planned for release soon.
Features include one control for compression, limiting and level maximization
and a gentle downward expander for noise gating.
Renaissance Vox works with several Digidesign protocols, including TDM,
Realtime AudioSuite (RTAS) and AudioSuite. It also includes support for
VST, MAS, RTAS and AudioSuite for native host platforms. It requires a
200 MHz 604e, though a G3 or G4 is strongly recommended. For basic operation,
it eats up 64 MB RAM; it requires 96 MB for multitrack. Renaissance Vox
Native runs $200. The TDM version costs $400. For more information, visit
